Kitesurfing is a mixture of surfing, kite flying and
wakeboarding. Bundoran is ideally located for kitesurfing with a beach for every wind and plenty of swell for those looking for ramps. The geography of Donegal bay means that there is always somewhere with a cross shore direction once the wind is up. Rossnowalgh and Streedagh are 2 of the best beaches for those who want to kitesurf in the waves. There is a flat water option avalable at Murvagh.
If you want to get into kitesurfing you need to know how to fly a kite. All you need to start is a good, solid
basic understanding of the skills involved. Like every new sport the grounding you get in the first stages is the most valuable. So start
simple: learn to fly. Get a small kite and just fly it. Go into the field next door. Go to the park: even better; go to the beach and just
fly your kite.
At Bundoran Surf Co. we have a wide range of beginner kites available for sale. These are suitable for learning fundamental kite skills that will prepare you for your first kitesurfing lesson.
The next step is to get a lesson, now that you have become one with your trainer kite and you can fly it with your eyes closed. You must to get a lesson. You need to get the right information at the beginning. The basics are the most important. If you don't get a lesson you can injure yourself or other people.
